ADHD meds made me dependent. Here's why I outgrew them:

Hey Reader,

ADHD meds are a powerful tool, but they are like training wheels.

Meds revealed my capabilities, but if I wanted to go faster & farther, I had to move on from them.

They transformed me from the kid in & out of detention to getting As as a chemical engineer on scholarship at USC.

Unfortunately, I became dependent upon them and couldn't complete any work without them. If anything, when I stopped taking meds, my symptoms were heightened.

I feared that when I quit my job to launch my business, Medi-Cal wasn't going to cover my medication. Or, worse, there was a shortage like there currently is. One client faced this harsh reality and couldn't function for weeks. Her doctor said she was showing signs of withdrawal. YES WITHDRAWAL!

My dreams would not be stopped because of my lack of focus, so I found a solution: Habits and systems.

  • If I want to improve, I have to measure myself
  • Focus on impacting my actions rather than the results
  • Give myself time limits by timeboxing tasks otherwise I’ll waste my time
  • Give myself deadlines to generate urgency and create pressure
  • 2 min rule: If it takes less than 2 mins, do it then
  • Breaking tasks into tiny pieces so I don't procrastinate
  • Journaling about my challenges to develop new solutions
  • Meditating and working out to reduce restless energy

These systems have helped many ScatterMind clients and me become full-time entrepreneurs.

Medication was great for jumpstarting my ADHD journey, but for me to reach my dreams, I had to evolve.

In the coming weeks, look for a free course showcasing all this learning.

How can I iterate on my product if I don’t have users? Even worse, I almost ran out of money multiple times. Posting content is a...

Hey Reader, Today, I want to talk about how bad habits will steal all your time. This is an updated version of a post I made on Reddit! Bad habits are like slow leaks in a tire. You won’t see the damage right away. But they'll slow you down and leave you stranded. You can fill your tire with air, but it will eventually deflate again. When I had bad habits, I was constantly putting out fires that I created for myself. It felt like the world was stacked against me, but I was actually doing the...
